What is "Right-of-Way"?
According to the Radnor Township Ordinance, the Right-of-Way is land set aside for passage, such as a utility, street, alley or other means of travel.
(1) EXISTING RIGHT-OF-WAY
The legal right-of-way as established by the commonwealth or other appropriate governing authority and currently in existence.
(2) ULTIMATE RIGHT-OF-WAY
The right-of-way deemed necessary by the Radnor Township Comprehensive Plan as appropriate to provide adequate width for future street improvements.
Right-of-Way (ROW) & Park Initiatives
The STC also manages the planting of trees within the public right-of-way—the area between the sidewalk and the curb—and within our 25 township parks.
• Community Planting Days: Large-scale plantings often take place in parks like The Willows, Warren Filipone Park, and Ithan Valley. These events are supported by volunteers, the Radnor Public Works Parks Maintenance Division, and local professional tree services.
• Maintenance Pilot Program: We don't just plant; we protect. Our maintenance teams perform "de-vining," dead-wooding, and invasive brush clearing to ensure established trees continue to thrive in the ROW.
• Environmental Impact: These trees serve as critical riparian buffers to help with erosion and downstream flooding, with a single mature tree capable of absorbing up to 150 gallons of water daily.

• Is it a ROW Tree? If you are unsure if a tree is on your property or in the township right-of-way, you can contact the Public Works / Parks Maintenance or the Community Development office.
Aftercare Instructions: All participants in the Street Tree program are responsible for watering their new trees.
