Radnor Township Real Estate Taxes Have Been Mailed Effective 2/1/2020

Real Estate Taxes Image

The Radnor Township real estate tax bills were mailed out effective February 1, 2020 and residents should expect to receive their bills this week. All owners of taxable real property in Radnor Township (vacant land or residential, commercial, and other structures) are subject to a real estate tax each year. An owner of tax-exempt real property - such as a church, college, university, or public utility - generally is not subject to the real estate tax. The total assessed value of all tax-exempt properties in Radnor represents about 12 percent of total assessed value of all properties in the Township.

PLEASE PUT FOLIO NUMBER ON CHECK MEMO LINE: If multiple parcels/properties are owned by the same person & address, multiple bills are mailed and stacked into one envelope bill. Please mail back in the one envelope provided with either one check, noting each folio# or include separate checks with the folio # on each memo line.

Tax Entities

There are 3 different taxing entities to which Radnor property owners pay the real estate tax:

  • Township - Radnor Township
  • School - Radnor Township School District
  • County - Delaware County

The real estate tax is based on a millage rate levied each year by the respective governing bodies of those jurisdictions. For example, the Township real estate tax is set by the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners in December each year as part of the annual budget process; the School District tax is set each spring by the Radnor Township Board of School Directors; and the County real estate tax is set each December by the Delaware County Council.

Township Real Estate Tax Due Dates

  • March 31 - Tax bills due for discount amount
  • May 31 - Tax bills due for face amount
  • June 1 - December 31 - 10% penalty added

Please note, these dates are different from the tax deadlines imposed by the Radnor Township School District for school taxes and Delaware County for county taxes.

Penalties & Discounts

Residents who pay their current year’s Township tax by March 31 will receive a 2% discount, while Township taxes paid after May 31 are subject to a 10% penalty. If a Radnor Township property owner does not pay their Township tax by December 31 a lien will be placed against the property, and subject to a Sheriff’s Sale to the public, until the delinquent taxes are paid.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE: The mission of the Finance Department is to professionally, ethically, and effectively manage the Township’s financial resources by identifying, developing, advancing, and implementing fiscal, human resource, and administrative strategies, policies, and practices for the public’s benefit.
