Radnor Township Launches New Finance Transparency Program

RADNOR, PA (February 26, 2019) – Radnor Township is pleased to announce the launch of a new online tool called "Open Finance", which allows the public to interact with the Township's revenue and expenses. This new feature is the next step in the Township’s ongoing efforts to promote fiscal transparency and accountability. "For the past nine years, one of our top financial goals has been transparency. We have provided comprehensive budget documents, award winning audited financial reports, Township personnel wage information, and more. Now, we get to give our community access to the information in one, easy to navigate tool" stated Township Manager Robert Zienkowski. "The Board of Commissioners deserve credit for seeing the benefit of these investments into the technology that provides these types of tools."

This interactive website is often referred to as an "open finance" because it provides detailed information regarding Township revenues and expenditures. Budget and actual data is provided for all Township funds and can be sliced and diced by function, fund, department, division, service type, and vendor. The public can view Information at the highest level of reporting or drill all the way down to individual transactions. This new tool allows the public to see how revenue is received by the Township, and how each resulting dollar is allocated. Financial data is updated each week and the website data is one‐way.

“We are excited to be on the leading edge of government transparency by offering this 'Open Finance' tool that provides a modern gateway into how their township receives and spends its resources,” added Assistant Township Manager and Finance Director William White. “We discussed these types of opportunities when the decision was made to invest in financial software, and now we’re seeing the product.”

Radnor Township’s “Open Finance” transparency tool can be accessed by visiting the Township’s website at www.radnor.com  or by visiting  https://radnortownship.finance.socrata.com/#!/dashboard
