Township Vacancy Board Procedure

Radnor New Seal

The Vacancy Board is authorized under the Radnor Township Home Rule Charter to fill vacancies which exist in the office of Township Commissioner.  Once a vacancy is created either through resignation, death in office or change in residence, the remaining 6 Commissioners have 30 days to make an interim appointment of a qualified person to fill the vacancy. The Board accepted Mr. Ahr’s resignation on Nov. 6 so the 30 day time period has expired.

If the Board is unable to fill the vacancy within  30 days then the Vacancy Board has an additional 15 days to fill the vacancy which makes the deadline Dec. 21. The Vacancy Board consists of the remaining 6 members of the Board of Commissioners and one elector of the Township who is appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The elector acts as the Chairman of the Vacancy Board and has the full power to vote with the remaining 6 Commissioners in order to fill the vacant position.
